Meet The Rings Blog Team

Tim Marshall (News Editor)

I'm an NCTJ-qualified newspaper journalist and have worked at five different local newspapers in Britain over the past 20 years. I also have a real passion for jewellery which was passed down to me by my maternal grandmother. I’m married to Helen and have three great kids and we live in the Welsh town of Llandudno, which is lovely to look at but hard to spell! I look forward to exploring the hidden depths within gemstones and passing on this knowledge via Rings.org.uk.

Jenny Harrison (Content Writer)

I live in a small village called Cullompton outside Exeter which has beautiful countryside but can be a bit boring sometimes! I’m currently studying a BTEC Level 3 diploma in Art and Design, which is great although it challenges my creative side a bit too much! I like to read anything about fashion, so being part of the Rings.org.uk team is really fun. My aim is to design my own dresses one day and keep on learning and writing about fashion!

Kate Fisher (Content Writer)

I graduated in journalism in 2009 and am trying to break into the competitive world of newspapers, which means lots of writing and work experience. I work during the day for a large packaging company (sort of like The Office but worse!), and provide content for Rings.org.uk in my spare time. I’m probably not what you’d call a girly girl, but I enjoy writing about rings as I’m mildly addicted to buying them. I grew up very near the famous football ground Hillsborough in Sheffield, although I’m not a Sheffield Wednesday fan!

Sam Wright-Smith (Content Writer)

I grew up near Bath, am an avid rugby fan, and currently doing a postgrad course in English. I’d say I’m the jester in my circle of friends, although I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not! My goal is to write comedy for a living, but for the moment I’m happy getting my work published. Some of my male friends take the mickey out of me for writing about rings, but they’re just not in touch with their inner metrosexual!

Sarah Ringham (Content Writer)

I’ve been working with the team at Rings.org.uk since October 2010 and am really enjoying the experience. Right now, I’m quite busy studying for my final year at university – chemistry, don’t ask! – yet hope to be able to become a regular contributor for the site after graduation. I’m not sure if I want to pursue writing as a full-time career, but it’s fun and challenging and I keep learning new things all the time. My interests include travelling, reading and watching the X-Factor!

Tamsin Eckley (Content Writer)

When I was growing up my mother used to make and sell her own jewellery, so I’ve always had an interest in shiny things, especially rings! My dream is to run an online shop which sells my own collection of homemade jewellery, which is why I’m so pleased to be working at Rings.org.uk and learning how an internet business works. As you may be able to tell, I’m not a professional writer but I do have an avid interest in rings and I hope that comes across!

Zoe Barwell (Content Writer)

I joined Rings.org.uk as a content writer in the autumn of 2010 after replying to an advert they posted in a forum. Even though I’d had my work published in local newspapers, I really didn’t know what to expect as I’d never written for a professional blog before. What’s most interesting for me is the difference between writing for print and online readers. People’s attention spans seem to be a lot shorter on the net! My hobbies include horseriding and hockey. I also love watching House with the dreamy Hugh Laurie to unwind after a hard day!
